Checks for the presence of an ads.txt file for advertising transparency.
This check looks for an 'ads.txt' file at the root of your website (e.g., 'yourdomain.com/ads.txt'). Ads.txt stands for 'Authorized Digital Sellers' and is a plain text file that publishers who display advertising can use to publicly declare which advertising companies and exchanges are authorized to sell their ad inventory.
It's an IAB Tech Lab industry initiative designed to increase transparency in programmatic advertising and combat ad fraud, counterfeit inventory, and domain spoofing. Without it, unauthorized sellers can pretend to sell your ad space and pocket the revenue.
If you display digital ads on your website, having a correct ads.txt file is important for ensuring you get paid correctly and that only your authorized advertising partners can sell your ad space. If you don't display ads, this check is not applicable to your site.
