Detects paginated content and validates crawlable page links and self-referencing canonicals.
This check identifies paginated content (blog archives, product listings, search results) and validates the implementation. It checks for crawlable page links, proper canonical tags (each page should canonicalize to itself), unique titles per page, and accessible 'next/previous' navigation.
Proper pagination ensures all pages of a series are discoverable and indexable. Common mistakes include canonicalizing all pages to page 1 (hiding content), using JavaScript-only pagination (uncrawlable), or infinite scroll without fallback HTML links.
Incorrect pagination can hide large amounts of content from search engines. If all paginated pages canonicalize to page 1, products on pages 2+ may never be indexed. If pagination uses only JavaScript, search engines may not discover them at all.
